Pedal power: Stefan rises to the CEO Challenge

Our CEO, Stefan Botha, is always ready to go the distance. This time, quite literally on a bicycle!

As part of the recent CEO Challenge, Stefan joined fellow business leaders in a test of stamina, grit, and determination. For 25 solid minutes, he pushed through on a stationary bike, a ride that demanded focus, resilience, and the drive to keep moving forward.

Those values mirror what we live at Optimi every day: pushing boundaries, taking on new challenges, and supporting one another to the finish line. That’s why our catchphrase, proudly worn on our shirts, “Education in Motion”, felt so fitting. Stefan’s ride embodied it perfectly: progress, perseverance, and momentum. The challenge wasn’t just about fitness. It was about visibility, leadership, and showing that true leaders step up, whether in the office or on a bike seat. Stefan’s effort reminds us that with humour, heart, and determination, no challenge is too tough. We’re proud of Stefan for setting the pace, and grateful to every Optineer who keeps pedalling toward progress. Together, we really are education in motion.

About the CEO Challenge
The CEO Cycle Challenge is a leadership and fundraising initiative that brings together business leaders from across South Africa to pedal for a purpose. The event, hosted under the South African Hall of Fame’s Legacy Project in partnership with Nashua, aims to raise funds and awareness to empower disadvantaged children through education, sports development, and leadership programmes. Each participating CEO takes on a 25-minute ride on a stationary bike, symbolising endurance, teamwork, and commitment – values that extend beyond fitness and into the boardroom. The challenge serves as a reminder that leadership is not just about decision-making, but about showing up, pushing through, and inspiring others to do the same. Through sweat, spirit, and solidarity, the CEO Challenge highlights the power of collaboration in creating meaningful change – one pedal stroke at a time.
